A morning view on the Fulton Street Mall after a snow storm. This view is looking East with Bridge Street just ahead (at left). Hoyt Street is not in view (at right). It begins at Fulton Street.
How comfortable do you want to be when you're shopping? Thoughts of comfort are usually relegated to what you are buying when you're shopping. Not necessarily what you experience when shopping at an open-air mall. The knowledge that you are out in the elements when shopping--subjecting yourself to rain, heat, humidity, snow, etc. to achieve your goals is already thought about before traveling to shop.
The US Post Office Motto: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." I figure that the same can be said about the human condition. The Corona Virus Pandemic put front & center the realization that we as humans need to be outside, outdoors for at least a short period of time. When "cooped up," we become anxious, upset, even depressed. We want, need to be outside no matter the weather.
