It's sad to hear that your talents haven't, perhaps, brought you the financial stability you deserve, but the wealth of your talent that you've graciously shared with us here on the 'Stack is immeasurable. I, for one, am immensely grateful. Thank you.

I appreciate such words of positivity Ralph. The road traveled thus far is pointing to a destination that has yet to be completed. The joy in not quite knowing how it will go is actually invigorating.

Cheers!

I often wonder about those who photograph to eat vs. those who do so for themselves. I know it is virtually impossible to completely separate the two, but it does seem to play a role. The stuff you do for you, the stuff you do for clients. A lot of photogs dream of the career, but there seems to be a price? I may be wrong. Your personal work is exceptional, and I take great pleasure in viewing and enjoying it, when it pleases you to post and share!! Thank you for this post!

The whole of life had to come into play. I idolized Avedon & Skrebneski. The dream fully enveloped my psyche. Never realizing I'd never be the Black Avedon or Skrebneski. It just wasn't gonna happen. Scrounging for piecemeal assisting jobs. Working to live impacted the underlying creativity. The saving grace was in practicing both aspects of photography at the same time, unbeknownst of the value it would have for me now.

Thanks for sharing those kind thoughts. It's appreciated.

Cheers!

I avoid religion as much as I can. I couldn’t avoid it until turning 18. So biblical references are gonna be the memories I had from decades ago.

I knew before the trip that I’d get back into photography. The timing was all that needed to be worked out. My commitment to that time period was made during the trip.

As a disillusioned church goer, I avoided references to biblical stories as much as possible.

I'm deleting the comment. My analogy didn't work as i thought it would. Not trying to blow your gasket, just trying to connect two disparate thoughts on the spir of the moment and failed. Apologies.
