I’m one of the children in your PS 26 photos, along with my childhood best friends. What a treasure to stumble upon these and be able to share the history with my children. Thank you for sharing your talent!
I'm happy for the island's new life, though maintaining a fondness for the nostalgic functions it was built on. With reverence for the Lanape people who were there all the years before.
The last I was there was in 2016, that last set of photos in the newsletter at the small boat station (blue shed) with the trees sprouting around it is from that last time I visited.

HI LeeAnn, you'r'e so welcome. The spirit and energy you and the other children showed was so inviting, warm and special. Not much can top that.
I used one roll of film during that lunch period. The whole roll of pictures can be seen at the link below. Cheers!

I especially enjoyed the photographs of the children. Their expressions are priceless.
What an interesting history of Governors Island. So nice it was sold to New York from federal government and now it has a whole new beginning.
Have you taken the ferry there recently?
Hi Monica, I'm happy to know the photos resonate with you. The full (unedited) roll of the children can be found here --> https://knp125.visura.co/ps-26-governors-island
